Part I: State of the MCFC

From Coach Scott:

Monterey County Futbol Club (MCFC)
Currently, MCFC is a soccer club that affiliates itself with the Orchard Valley Youth Soccer League of Morgan Hill. Under their umbrella, MCFC teams register and play in the Delgado League (class 3) and the Abronzino League (class 1), which are the regional leagues for "traveling" team soccer. This affiliation is also necessary for participation in tournaments such as the District Cup, the Association Cup, and the State Cup. OVYSL also operates a recreational league (class 4) similar to the Salinas Valley Youth Soccer League (SVYSL) which most of you have experience with.
Due to the growth of MCFC, and the nearing "retirement" of the OVYSL president and registrar (his wife), with whom MCFC has a close relationship, MCFC is very seriously considering applying for the CYSA charter for Monterey County. This would allow MCFC to operate its own league and substantially contribute to the growth of youth soccer in Monterey County, potentially on a scale comparable with youth baseball. This would possibly include a merger between MCFC (class 1 & 3) and SVYSL (class 4).
Part of the vision is the development of a soccer complex in Salinas.
Several fields/concepts are being pursued, namely at Marks Ranch, Fort Ord, and Rancho Cielo.
Because our daughters are young and the Hurricanes are on the front end of their youth soccer experience, our girls will be here to benefit from these plans. As such, MCFC would like us, the Hurricanes, to elevate our involvement at the club level.
We all have our own talents, and some of you have expertise and networks within your own professions that would make you an ideal candidate to serve the club in this capacity. Specifically, we need one or two parents to volunteer to serve on a committee for 1) Field Development, and/or 2) Club Development.
Please contact me if you are interested in volunteering for either of the above committees. This is truly meaningful and valuable work that will benefit our children for years to come.
Additionally, an opportunity exists for an interested person to become the MCFC "League Registrar". This would be a paid position.
(Teams/Players pay a processing fee every time we register a player, do an add/drop, etc. This fee is split between the Registrar of OVYSL and CYSA.)
Thank you for considering the above and please "reply" to this email if one of the above may be of interest to you.

Part II: Help Needed Volunteer

From Coach Scott:
Snack Scheduler: _______________
Create and maintain schedule at the beginning of each season for half time and post-game snacks and water. Also coordinate the same for tournaments.

Rosters & Game Cards: _______________
Create and maintain an Excel spreadsheet with all player information and provide a roster for the game card each week.

Match Coordinator: _______________
Communicate and coordinate with opposing teams during the season.
Each match must be confirmed three days in advance, field location and times confirmed, etc. Occasionally, there can be a need to "negotiate" a change of date.

Courier: _______________
Occasionally there is a need to drop off and/or pick-up paperwork, player cards, etc., from the Registrar in Morgan Hill.

Player Development
Head Coach: Scott Corner
Assistant Coach: Gene Paulo

Game Charts/Match Records: _______________ There are two parts to this. The first is that I have a few game sheets that I like to use that help me break down what has happened during the game. This can be an interesting task, because you begin to watch the game differently. The second part is I have some PC based software that can be used to maintain a historical record for the team and each player. This would require some post game work.

Other
Team Photographer: Celeste & Scott White
It would be very nice if we had a dedicated parent willing and able to capture and preserve our team history. I envision this person shooting regular team photos, action shots, candids of players and families, video when possible etc.; creating and maintaining a team "Snapfish" or similar account for preservation of photos/"albums"; and putting together a slide/video show for the end of each season. It appears that Celeste has anticipated this need, but she may want to work with others in putting together a slide show.

Part III: Hurricanes Expenses

From Coach Scott:

Week of September 25th:
1) A check for $21.88 made payable to the "MCFC Hurricanes" for field and referee expenses.

Our team account had enough to cover $350 of the $700 at the last MCFC meeting. We need to pay the remaining $350 prior to the next club meeting. Accordingly, we need to collect $21.88 per player this week ($350/16 players = $21.88/player). Please make checks payable to
"MCFC Hurricanes".

2) Confirmation by October 1st for District Cup.

We have registered the team for the District Cup November 18th & 19th. The tournament is in Morgan Hill and the cost is $350 per team. We think that the cost of tournaments should be borne by the participating players. For example, we know that the Tibbs will be gone for District Cup. So we will/would divide this $350 by 15 players rather than 16. Accordingly, we need confirmation by October 1st, which players will be participating in District Cup. This is the
week following the end of the fall season and we hope that ALL of our girls will participate.

3) A check for $72.55 made payable to the "MCFC Hurricanes" for uniforms.
Uniforms:
The girls received their new uniforms last week. The cost of two jerseys (home & away), shorts, two pair red socks, one pair white socks, printing, and shipping & handling was $72.55/player. Please get Tiffany a check as soon as possible (if you have not already), as Kim is carrying this balance on her credit card.

Upcoming Expenses:
Our team expenses for the fall season are $700, as follows:
York Field: $60/match (Season: $240)
Buena Vista/Const: $10/match (Season: $10) (for field paint)
Officials: $90/match (Season: $450) (home matches only)

Past expenses:
In June we collected $71.80 as follows:
CYSA Player Fee: $25.00
OV Processing Fee: $10.72/player
Delgado Fee: $12.50/player
MCFC Fee: $3.58/player
Advance on Fields & Refs: $20.00/player
